1    Privacy policy
SportsLens is committed to protecting your privacy. We have therefore formed the following policy to explain how we use information you provide to us, and what we do with the information provided. Any information provided by you will be used in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

The information you provide to us
When you register on our site, communicate with or order something from us, we will retain the information you have given us. This will include your personal details (name, address, email, telephone), details of your payment method (e.g. debit/credit cards details), your prescription information (if relevant) and details of any products that you have ordered from us. This information enables us to fulfil our service commitment to you.

Information we collect from the site & “cookies”
In order to provide our customers with a better service, we monitor the number and type of visitors to our site. To help us do this, we collect general statistics about visitors to the SportsLens website.

When you visit our site, the website will send a “cookie” to the browser on the hard disc of your computer. This is a text-only string of information which enables us to monitor the website traffic and also allows the website to remember a visitor to the site. This makes it easier for you to log on and use the site again. Cookies also offer you the unique benefit of searching the site using your prescription, and means that we will remember your prescription the next time you log on. This helps us improve the service we offer you.

Cookies are in common use on the web and it is possible for you to adjust your browser settings to reject cookies if you wish. Information about deleting or controlling cookies is available at www.aboutcookies.org. Please note that by deleting our cookies or disabling future cookies you may not be able to access certain areas or features of our site, including the search by prescription or the ability to receive details of offers relevant to you. When cookies are used by us to collect general statistics, they do so on an anonymous basis and it is not possible to identify individuals.

Using your personal information
We use your personal information to send you the goods you have ordered and to provide you with access to our site. We also use the information to make up your prescription glasses (if relevant), deliver the glasses or any other goods  you have ordered and send you an invoice. We may need to contact you by telephone or email if a query arises in relation to your order.

In addition we may contact you from time to time by email, post or telephone to tell you about the latest developments at SportsLens or about special offers or other items in which we think you may be interested. If you wish to withdraw your consent to such contact, please email us by clicking here . We may need to disclose your information to our service providers and agents for these purposes.

We may share your information with agents such as credit reference agencies, credit card agencies and secure payment providers whom we use to provide you with a safe and secure method of processing your payment. The information provided to them is sufficient to allow them to perform the functions requested of them.

We may share your information with our business partners. We, or they, may contact you by email, phone or letter to let you know about goods, services or promotions which may be of interest to you. Please click here to email us if you do not want to receive such information.

Finding out what information we hold about you
In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, you are entitled to see what information we hold about you. There is a statutory right to make a charge to cover our costs in providing this information to you which is currently £5.00. www.sportslens.co.uk is the trading name of SportsLens Limited which is a company registered in England & Wales at Companies House with No 05290320.

These terms and conditions and the privacy policy govern the use of the website by you and by accessing or using our website, you accept that you understand these terms and conditions and you agree to be bound by them and the privacy policy as amended from time to time.

To enter into a legally binding contract to purchase goods from our website you must be over 18 years of age.

made. No unauthorised copying or use of any of the material on this site can be made without express permission of SportsLens Limited or
the owners of the supplied product and sporting images save for the purpose of placing an order with us or using the website as a shopping resource. Products for sale
Products offered for sale on the website are at all times subject to availability. All customer orders are subject to acceptance and confirmation by SportsLens. We reserve the right not to supply the goods requested.

Your prescription
When ordering prescription glasses, glazed inserts or prescription goods of any kind, you confirm to us that the prescription supplied to SportsLens at the time of your order has been obtained from a registered UK ophthalmic optician or registered UK medical practitioner within the last two years from the date of the order.

We will use the prescription provided by you to make up your glasses or other prescription goods and no liability will be accepted by SportsLens for any mistake made by you in the provision of that prescription. Orders will be made to the prescription provided. All orders will be checked by SportsLens prior to despatch to confirm the lenses match the prescription provided.

As part of the prescription, you will also need to provide the Pupillary Distance measurement (PD) which will have been taken by a registered dispensing optician and supplied to you as part of your prescription. SportsLens recommend that the PD is obtained from your optician and no liability is accepted by SportsLens for any mistake made by you in providing the PD measurement.

Prices and payment
Prices quoted are correct at the time of display. We reserve the right to change the price from time to time without notice. However, once your order has been accepted, the price charged to you will not change. For UK orders, prices quoted are inclusive of postage, packaging and VAT at the current prevailing rate. For deliveries outside the UK please contact us.

Payment for the goods must be made at the time of the order. All payments must be made in pounds sterling.

Delivery
Delivery of the goods will be to the address as stated in the order and unless otherwise agreed, will be to a UK address. SportsLens will use reasonable endeavours to despatch all items from stock within 24 hours. For non-prescription orders, SportsLens will endeavour to deliver within 6 days, and for prescription orders, we will endeavour to deliver within 28 days. Where times and dates for deliveries have been specified, these are expressed to be estimates only and SportsLens will use its reasonable endeavours to deliver items within a reasonable time. SportsLens does not accept liability for any failure to deliver outside of the time or date specified.

Defective goods
You must inspect the goods immediately upon receipt. If there is a problem with the goods because they are defective, or do not correspond to the order placed, please notify us at by clicking here. The goods must not be used and should be returned to SportsLens for replacement or refund within 14 days in the original packaging and with the accompanying paperwork, stating the problem.

Refunds
We want you to be delighted with your purchase. If you are not happy with your non-prescription goods for any reason, SportsLens will issue a refund provided that the goods are returned unused and in excellent condition to SportsLens within 10 working days in the original packaging and with all accompanying documentation stating the reason for the goods’ return. Please refer to the Refunds section in Help for details on how to obtain a refund.

SportsLens are unable to refund the cost of any prescription glasses or bespoke swimming goggles or diving masks made to your prescription or the prescription supplied by you. Where the goods involve a prescription insert SportsLens will refund the cost of the frame or mask in full but not the cost of the glazed insert. Please refer to the Refunds section in Help for details on how to request a refund. This policy does not affect your statutory rights.

Website security
As with other good websites, your credit or debit card information is encrypted when sent over the internet for your security and protection. This service ensures your personal information is safe when placing an order and is provided to us by Protx in conjunction with Lloyds TSB Cardnet.


Limitation of liability
The lenses used in sports eyewear are designed to protect and improve the safety of your eyes while participating in sports. Although polycarbonate and other sports lenses have a high degree of impact resistance, this does not mean that they are unbreakable or that you won’t suffer any injuries while wearing them. SportsLens accepts no liability for any loss or damage howsoever caused while wearing our products. If we are liable to you for any reason, our maximum liability will not exceed the total price paid for the products to which the claim relates. This clause does not apply to our liability for death or personal injury which arises from our negligence or any breach of our statutory duty.
